Updated: May 10, 2007.

Here is another update to the pet food recall. There is constantly new information come up and I've been spending a lot of time sorting through the information so I can share with you a summary of the facts. I also want to give you a list of newly recalled foods and a link to the full list.

As you may know, several more brands have been recalled during the last few weeks. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, “the most recent pet food recalls have been undertaken proactively, due to association with involved ingredients and suppliers rather than as the result of complaints that animals that have consumed the food and become ill.”

Not all foods on the recall list have caused problems in pets. However, carefully check the list and do not feed any food on the list. Here are some foods that were recalled most recently (the end of April).

RECENTLY RECALLED CAT FOODS

Doctors Fostor & Smith
Natural Balance Pet Foods
Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul
Lick Your Chops
All Cans of "Harmony Farms" cat food
All Cans of "Blue Spa Select" cat food

RECENTLY RECALLED DOG FOODS and TREATS

Doctors Foster & Smith
All Cans of "Harmony Farms" dog food
All "Harmony Farms" dog treats
All Cans of "Blue" dog food
All "Blue" dog treats manufactured At American Nutrition, Inc.
Natural Balance

Not all varieties of the above foods have been recalled. The list changes so quickly that it is important that you pull out your foods and check it against the list of recalled foods. Check the list periodically as new foods are occasionally being added. For information or an updated list, call Menufoods at 1-866-895-2708 or go to the FDA site on recalls by
