Repellent Spray
1/2 cup fresh spearmint leaves
1/2 cup green onion tops
1/2 cup horseradish roots and leaves
1/2 cup red-hot peppers
2 tablespoons liquid detergent
Water

Blend spearmint leaves, onion tops, horseradish and peppers with enough water to cover the mix. If the blend is too viscous, add more water and blend again. Strain and ad 1/2 gallon of water. Add liquid detergent.

To use, dilute 1/2 cup of Repellent Spray in 1/2 gallon water in a sprayer. Store the unused portion no longer than 3 days.

Leaf Glosses
Put a few drops of glycerin on a cloth and swab the leaves with it. Glycerin is not a dust collector.

Remedy for Sick Ferns
Mix 1/2 cup salt with 6 pints lukewarm water. If ferns are infested with worms, stick matches into the soil, sulfur end down. For an ordinary size plant, use four matches; six for a large pot.

African Violet Food
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon Epsom salt
1 teaspoon saltpeter
1/2 teaspoon household ammonia
1 gallon water

Use this solution once a month.

Aphid Chaser
Chop shallots or green onions with an equal amount of water in a food chopper. Strain the mixture and spray it over rose bushes.
