Beauty Product Recipes

Colored Lip Gloss recipe
This is an excellent way to use up lipstick that is too dark.

1 teaspoon grated beeswax
1/2 teaspoon lipstick
1/2 teaspoon petroleum jelly

Melt the ingredients in a small can placed in boiling water. Stir it well and pour it into a small jar.

Vanilla Lip Gloss recipe
1 tablespoon grated beeswax
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1/8 teaspoon vitamin E oil
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract

Place the beeswax, coconut oil and vitamin E oil in an ovenproof container. Heat gently until the wax and oils are melted. Stir in the vanilla extract and mix well. Pour the mixture into a clean container and allow to cool completely.

Cuticle Cream recipe
3 tablespoons paraffin
1/2 cup mineral oil
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 tablespoon glycerin

Slowly heat paraffin with the oils in a double boiler. Stir until blended. Add in the glycerin and remove from heat. Let cool before using.

Solid Perfume recipe
1/2 ounce beeswax
4 ounces Vaseline
1/4 ounce fragrance oil of your choice

Melt beeswax and Vaseline over low heat in a nonreactive pan. Remove from heat, cool slightly, and stir in fragrance oil. Pour into containers (such as small tins, lip gloss containers, tiny compacts or jars) and let air dry until firm.

Rose Nail Oil recipe
1/4 cup almond oil
2 teaspoons apricot kernel oil
5 drops geranium essential oil
2 drops rose essential oil

Mix the ingredients together and store in a dark colored bottle. To use, massage the base of your nails every day with this oil to encourage healthy growth. The oil can also be used as part of a manicure. Soak the nails for at least 10 minutes after you have thoroughly cleaned them.

Molded Massage Oil recipe
4 tablespoons solid vegetable shortening
3 tablespoons solid cocoa butter
2 tablespoons solid coconut oil
1 tablespoon beeswax
1 tablespoon paraffin wax
10 drops orange essential oil (or whatever you like)

Heat all the above, except essential oil, in a microwave (power 7) for approximately 3 minutes or melt in a double boiler. Stir until liquid. If you want them colored, add a crayon or wax dye. Beat for several minutes until emulsified and slightly thick. If it isn't thickening, place your bowl in ice water as you beat it with an electric mixer. Add essential oil. Pour into metal or lightly oiled plastic/glass molds. (Chocolate molds work well and are about the right amount for a body massage.) Refrigerate until set. Wrap in plastic and store in a cool place. To use, simply hand warm your molded oil and give a massage to your favorite person or give yourself a foot massage.

Petroleum Jelly recipe
1 ounce beeswax
1/2 cup baby or mineral oil

Melt the beeswax in a microwave or a double boiler. Stir in the mineral oil. Remove the mixture from the heat and stir until cool.
